A US federal judge on May 29 temporarily blocked Donald Trump’s nearly $1.8 billion “Anti-Bullying Fund,” according to Al Jazeera.
The massive funding package was originally part of a settlement between the Justice Department and Trump over the leak of his private tax returns. However, advocacy groups have filed a lawsuit against it, alleging that the Trump administration intends to divert the funds to protesters who stormed the Capitol in 2021 and other partisan groups.
The injunction will prevent the Trump administration from touching or opening the funds until a hearing on June 12 to determine whether to permanently close the fund.
