šŸ˜”Rubio Hints At ā€˜Plan B’ In Iran Despite New Developments

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that there have been limited but noticeable signs of progress in back-channel diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. While he described the developments as ā€œencouraging,ā€ Rubio stressed that the situation remains highly unstable and far from any final agreement.

ā€œI don’t want to exaggerate it, but there’s been a little bit of movement,ā€ Rubio said, noting that he is not prepared to show full confidence in the talks yet. He added that while diplomacy is still alive, the opportunity for a breakthrough could close quickly if conditions worsen.

Reports indicate that Pakistan is once again playing a mediating role in the discussions. According to security sources, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is expected to travel to Tehran for consultations with Iranian officials, as part of broader efforts to keep communication channels open between Washington and Tehran.

A central point of contention remains Iran’s approach to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route. Rubio strongly rejected proposals described as a ā€œtolling system,ā€ under which commercial vessels would need authorization or face fees to pass through the waterway. He called the idea unacceptable, warning it would damage international trade and undermine diplomatic progress.

The Strait of Hormuz carries roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments, making it one of the most strategically important maritime corridors in the world. Any disruption there has immediate consequences for global energy markets, shipping costs, and economic stability.

Rubio warned that if Iran continues pushing restrictions on the strait, the United States and its allies will need to prepare alternative responses, stating that Washington must have a ā€œPlan B.ā€

Meanwhile, broader regional tensions remain elevated, including ongoing clashes involving Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon despite a U.S.-supported ceasefire effort. The European Union has also signaled expanded sanctions targeting individuals linked to any obstruction of maritime transit in the region.

Separately, Fox News anchor Bret Baier reported that President Donald Trump expressed cautious optimism about the possibility of reaching a diplomatic understanding with Iran in the near term, though significant obstacles remain.
