Fox News anchor Bret Baier said during a broadcast that he had recently spoken with President Donald Trump about the administration’s military campaign against Iran, known as “Operation Epic Fury.” According to Baier, Trump expressed satisfaction with the operation’s progress, saying U.S. forces had exceeded expectations while acknowledging the human cost of the conflict and the possibility of further casualties.
Baier shared several remarks he attributed to the president, including claims that U.S. intelligence capabilities had provided an unusually detailed understanding of developments inside Iran. Trump reportedly suggested that opposition elements within Iran could emerge and claimed that dozens of senior Iranian figures had already been eliminated during the campaign. He further stated that actions expected to take several weeks had progressed much faster than anticipated because U.S. officials allegedly knew the locations and activities of key targets.
The discussion then shifted to White House correspondent Peter Doocy, who outlined what officials described as a four-part benchmark for measuring the operation’s success. According to Doocy, administration sources believed all four objectives had effectively been achieved, leading some officials to suggest that the campaign could soon begin winding down.
Doocy reported that the stated goals included destroying Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities and production infrastructure, neutralizing its naval forces, weakening regional proxy groups accused of destabilizing the Middle East, and preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. He also cited administration claims regarding extensive military activity, including thousands of combat flights and attacks on numerous targets.
The report further noted growing tensions between the White House and some international allies. According to Doocy, discussions were underway regarding European support for U.S. objectives, while reports from major news organizations suggested disagreements over both Iran policy and the future role of NATO. He added that President Trump was expected to address these issues in upcoming remarks, though NATO officials maintained that planned diplomatic engagements with Washington remained on schedule.
