White House Physician Releases Trump Health

President Donald Trump remains in excellent health and is fully capable of carrying out the responsibilities of the presidency, according to a comprehensive medical report released Friday by his White House physician.

Dr. Sean Barbabella conducted the examination Tuesday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The evaluation lasted approximately three hours and included CT scans, cardiac imaging, cancer screenings, neurological testing, and consultations with 22 medical specialists.

Trump, 79, described the examination as having gone “perfectly.” He weighed 238 pounds, an increase of 14 pounds compared with his April 2025 physical. His body mass index (BMI) measured 29.7, placing him just below the medical threshold for obesity, which begins at a BMI of 30.

According to the report, Trump’s cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological systems showed no significant abnormalities. Barbabella wrote that the president’s demanding daily schedule, frequent public appearances, high-level meetings, and regular physical activity continue to support his overall health and ability to perform his duties.

The examination also included the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, on which Trump earned a perfect score of 30 out of 30. This matches the results from his previous cognitive evaluations in 2025 and 2018. His total cholesterol measured 143, a notable improvement from 223 recorded in 2018.

Doctors noted minor bruising on Trump’s hands, explaining that it was consistent with frequent handshaking and the effects of aspirin therapy. The report described the bruising as benign and recommended switching to a low-dose aspirin regimen.

Physicians also monitored Trump’s chronic venous insufficiency, an age-related condition that affects blood circulation in the legs. The evaluation found mild swelling in his lower legs but indicated that the condition had improved compared with last year’s examination.

The report marks the fourth publicly released medical evaluation since Trump began his second term in office. Its publication comes as the administration seeks to reassure the public about the president’s health ahead of the upcoming midterm election cycle.

Trump, who turns 80 next month, was the oldest individual elected president at the time of his election. His predecessor, Joe Biden, left office at age 82 after ending his 2024 reelection campaign amid widespread public discussion about age and fitness for office.

Although U.S. presidents are not legally required to release complete medical records, health updates have traditionally been made public to varying degrees by administrations of both major political parties.
