Bill Clinton Shares Positive Recovery Update After Sepsis Hospitalization
Former President Bill Clinton appeared visibly frail but in good spirits Wednesday as he issued a personal video update following his recent hospitalization for sepsis.
In a message posted to his official X account, the 42nd president thanked supporters and medical staff for their care during his seven-day stay at UC Irvine Medical Center in California.
“Hi everyone, I was so touched by the outpouring of support I received during my stay in the hospital. Thanks so much,” Clinton said. He specifically praised the doctors and nurses at UC Irvine for their “absolutely wonderful care.”
Clinton added a note of optimism about his future: “I, for one, am going to do my best to be around, to keep doing the most good I can, for a lot longer.”
According to an aide speaking on condition of anonymity, Clinton was treated for a urological infection that had spread to his bloodstream. He did not go into septic shock and is now on the mend.
Dr. Alpesh Amin, chair of the Department of Medicine at UC Irvine, confirmed that Clinton’s fever and white blood cell count have normalized. He has been discharged and will continue a course of antibiotics at home in New York.
Back home, Clinton said he is “really glad to be back” and “doing great,” while enjoying the beautiful fall weather as he continues his recovery.
He also offered a broader message to viewers: “I want to remind everyone out there: Take the time to listen to your bodies and care for yourselves. We all have work to do and each of us has an important role to play in life and in the immediate future.”
This update comes as the former president continues his active post-presidency work through the Clinton Foundation and other initiatives.
