A juvenile victim was taken to a hospital following an incident in which authorities described the injuries as non-life-threatening.
Following the event, the White House was briefly placed under lockdown as a precaution. According to Secret Service Deputy Director Mathew C. Quinn, the situation occurred only minutes after the vice president had left the area. Secret Service personnel responded to an officer-involved shooting near 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C.
In a statement, the Secret Service said the incident stemmed from a confrontation between an armed individual and Secret Service police officers. Officials confirmed that the situation was quickly contained and that there was no ongoing threat to the White House complex.
The incident came shortly after another reported security scare involving an individual identified as Cole Tomas Allen, who was accused of attempting to enter a high-profile political event in Washington, D.C. while allegedly armed. Authorities stated that he was later taken into federal custody and charged in connection with the case.
During a court appearance, prosecutors described the allegations and requested continued detention while the investigation proceeds. Officials indicated that additional charges may be considered as the case develops. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details.
