Ashley Biden Files For Divorce From Husband After 13 Years

Ashley Biden, the daughter of former U.S. President Joe Biden, has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband, plastic surgeon Dr. Howard Krein, after more than 13 years of marriage. Court records show the filing was made Monday in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas, though the exact reason for the separation has not been publicly disclosed because divorce filings in the city remain private.

The news quickly drew attention online after Ashley shared several reflective posts on Instagram the same day. One image showed her walking through a park while Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” played in the background. She also posted a message about “new life,” “new beginnings,” and setting “new boundaries,” which many interpreted as a reference to the major personal change in her life.

Ashley and Krein married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware, after being introduced by Ashley’s late brother, Beau Biden. During the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Ashley recalled how her father personally helped organize parts of the wedding reception while serving as vice president at the time.

The personal development comes as Joe Biden also faces renewed political scrutiny. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer recently claimed his investigation into Biden’s mental fitness could potentially be used to challenge some pardons and executive orders signed during the final months of his presidency. Comer questioned the frequent use of an autopen, arguing that legal concerns arise if a president was unaware of documents signed in his name.

Former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz stated that any challenges involving presidential signatures or pardons would likely be settled in court. Biden, however, has firmly denied claims that he lacked control over presidential decisions, insisting he personally approved all pardon actions issued during his administration.
