Kash Patel, Pam Bondi Announce Chilling Arrest

In August 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the successful completion of Operation Grayskull, a large-scale international effort aimed at dismantling online child exploitation networks operating on the dark web.

The operation, conducted in coordination with the FBI and several international law enforcement partners, resulted in 18 convictions and the shutdown of four major illicit platforms. According to investigators, these websites were among the most extreme they had ever encountered and collectively drew more than 120,000 users worldwide. Authorities said the networks were highly organized, functioning with administrator hierarchies, moderation systems, and strict internal rules designed to evade detection and prolong their operations.

Despite the sophistication of these platforms, law enforcement agencies were able to infiltrate and dismantle them through sustained digital investigation, intelligence sharing, and cross-border cooperation.

Sentencing in the case was substantial. One defendant from Minnesota received a prison term exceeding 20 years, while a Michigan man was sentenced to 55 years. Additional participants, including site moderators, received penalties ranging from 23 years to life imprisonment, reflecting the severity of their involvement.

Officials stressed that anonymity online does not provide immunity from prosecution, reaffirming their commitment under initiatives such as Project Safe Childhood to pursue offenders and disrupt exploitation networks wherever they operate.
