Trump Declares ‘No More Negotiations’ With Iran as U.S. Military Pressure Escalates

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States would no longer pursue negotiations with Iran after accusing Tehran’s leadership of delaying talks and taking advantage of a temporary cease-fire.

Speaking during an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Trump said Iran had failed to take diplomatic efforts seriously and warned that continued military action could follow if no agreement was reached.

“The deal is a very good deal,” Trump said, arguing that Iran had been given an opportunity to resolve the conflict. He added that even a surrender by Tehran would likely be portrayed negatively by what he called “fake news” outlets.

Trump claimed that U.S. military operations had severely weakened Iran’s military capabilities, saying Iranian naval and air forces had been damaged, missile systems had been reduced, and drone operations had declined significantly. He said Iran’s ability to launch attacks had been greatly diminished.

The president also criticized media coverage of the conflict, accusing some outlets of portraying Iran as stronger than it actually was. He specifically mentioned watching a segment hosted by Joe Scarborough and questioned commentary suggesting Iran was performing well in the confrontation.

Earlier in the week, Fox News anchor Bret Baier said Trump remained “cautiously optimistic” that a diplomatic agreement could still be reached. However, Baier noted that tensions remained high, particularly after reports that Iran had introduced a new maritime framework involving transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also spoke with Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst shortly before U.S. forces launched another round of strikes against Iranian military targets. According to Yingst, the president discussed the planned operation from the Situation Room before the strikes began.

Following the military action, Trump said Iran would face serious consequences if negotiations continued to fail. In a post on Truth Social, he described Iran’s military as being in a weakened state and warned that the United States would continue applying pressure.
