Trump Receives Clean Health Report After Extensive Walter Reed Medical Evaluation
President Donald Trump received a favorable health assessment after undergoing a comprehensive medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, according to a report released Friday by his physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella.
The three-hour evaluation, conducted Tuesday, included advanced imaging, cardiac testing, cancer screenings, and consultations with 22 medical specialists. Trump later told reporters that the examination “went perfectly,” reinforcing his message that he remains capable of handling the demands of the presidency.
Medical Results Show Strong Overall Health
According to Barbabella’s report, the 79-year-old president showed no major concerns involving his heart, lungs, or neurological function. Trump weighed 238 pounds during the examination, representing a 14-pound increase compared with his April 2025 physical. His calculated body mass index was 29.7, just below the medical threshold for obesity.
Trump also achieved a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a screening tool used to evaluate memory and cognitive abilities. The result matched his previous scores from 2025 and 2018.
His cholesterol levels showed significant improvement as well. Trump’s total cholesterol was measured at 143, a notable decline from the 223 level recorded in 2018.
Doctors also addressed minor bruising visible on Trump’s hands. The report attributed the bruising to repeated handshaking and described it as a common, harmless effect associated with aspirin use. Barbabella recommended that Trump continue with a low-dose aspirin approach.
Chronic Condition Continues to Be Monitored
The examination also reviewed Trump’s previously disclosed diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency, a condition in which blood circulation problems can cause swelling in the legs. Physicians observed some mild lower-leg swelling but noted that it had improved compared with the previous year.
Barbabella wrote that Trump’s demanding schedule — including frequent meetings, public appearances, and regular physical activity — continues to contribute positively to his overall condition.
Presidential Health Under Public Scrutiny
The evaluation represents the fourth publicly released medical assessment since Trump began his second presidential term. Trump is set to turn 80 next month and remains the oldest person elected president in U.S. history.
Presidential health disclosures have long attracted public attention, especially as concerns about age and fitness have become more prominent in recent elections. Former President Joe Biden left office at age 82 after ending his 2024 reelection campaign amid widespread debate over his age and ability to serve another term.
Although presidents traditionally release medical information, there is no legal requirement that they disclose complete medical records. Trump’s latest evaluation provides a public snapshot of his health as he continues serving in office.
