The twin-engine aircraft was en route to Alaska when it went down in a remote area. Among those killed were pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa Haynie, family assistant Melanie Hodges and her daughter Amber Hodges, Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler, and Nelons members Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark.
The group had been traveling to perform at the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska, a major gathering for gospel artists. What was meant to be a celebration of faith and music ended in tragedy.
Witnesses reported the plane appeared to experience mechanical problems before the crash. The aircraft burst into flames on impact, and emergency crews found no survivors.
Autumn Nelon Streetman, the only immediate family member not on the flight, released a statement expressing deep sorrow. She thanked supporters for their prayers and love, saying the family is leaning on their faith to get through this unimaginable pain.
For decades, The Nelons have been a cornerstone of Southern Gospel music, known for award-winning songs that brought hope, encouragement, and messages of faith to audiences across generations. Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark helped carry that legacy forward with grace and dedication.
